Your BRI yesterday tells you almost nothing. It's affected by what you ate, what you drank, how stressed you were, whether the room was too warm, whether the dog was scratching at the door. Every individual night has too much noise to be a real signal.
Thirty nights has the noise averaged out. Ninety nights tells you whether something is changing.

30-day BRI trend
Daily BRI plotted with a smoothed moving average and severity bands (normal, mild, moderate, severe). You can tell at a glance whether you're trending up, down, or stable. Most people's first surprise is how variable night-to-night actually is.
90-day distribution
A histogram of which severity bucket your nights fall into over the last 3 months. Different shape than the average. If you're "moderate on average" but mostly normal with three terrible nights every two weeks, that's a different story than steady moderate every night. The distribution shows the shape of your sleep, not just its center.
Intervention impact tracking
Mark a date when you start something — a CPAP, an anti-snore pillow, side-sleep training, weight loss, a medication change. SomniSense calculates pre/post averages so you can see whether the intervention is moving your numbers. Honest about it: if your CPAP went on Monday and your numbers don't change in two weeks, the trend will tell you, and you can adjust.

It's not magic — it's a small reminder based on your own tags. For the first 30 days, that small reminder is what makes the habit stick.
